The rumors are swirling amongst comics in New York City that the “most depised man in charge” at the legendary Comic Strip Live was fired by the club’s owners.
The manager’s firing comes nearly a year after comedians Scott Blakeman and Vanessa Hollingshead filmed a video showing the changes at the club, and how veteran comics who called the Strip their home were forced out under “new management.” It was also during the tenure of the axed manager that the Strip saw its lowest turnout at their annual Christmas party last December as local comics complained openly to each other about the manager’s booking practices and nastiness towards them.
Today, the future looks brighter for Comic Strip Live and comedians. One can bet that the Strip’s Christmas party on December 21st will be one of the most joyous events in NY comedy this year.
