“It’s easier for an older person to create comedy for a younger audience, not the other way around,” comedian David VanAvermaete tells the Contra Costa Times. “Ninety percent of comedians out there are young, single males. They talk about what young, single males know about: sex, parties, etc. The audience cannot always relate to that. Comedy is about what you can relate to.”
VanAvermaete is co-creator of the Not Dead Yet Comedy Tour with fellow fifty-something Bay area comedians David Kleinberg and Ken Koskella.
