While it is gratifying to include O’Neal’s posthumously released album as a memorial, it belongs here on merit alone. Let’s remember how this collection of the big man’s work is calibrated to remarkably big ideas, how its scope is so expansive and yet unpretentious enough to connect with whoever happened to sit in the front row.
